Jason D. DeHart- A Poem

The Piano

She used to be a piano,

til they re-tuned her, then tore

out the strings.

Made something new.

Now, she has been given wheels

and rolls.

Occasionally, she has been taught

to make a joke.

Now and then, a crude gesture.

She is learning slowly how to be

human and how the keys work,

a melody here,

a dissonance there.
