JD DeHart- Two Poems

Outliving

Says she’s been outliving holed up in this house
with its spaces in the floor.  There are family albums
somewhere with all the pictures she knew, but who knows
where those are anymore.  Time gets lost, like all the rest.

Her feet pad away at night as she pines for
the child she used to be.  There was a love once
that was promised to her and never returned
from his travels through space and time.

There was a promise once of who she might be,
but she gave it up with the birth
of her second life, emerging from her chrysalis.

Now she calls in the night for what might have been,
roaming room to room like a caged tiger, growling.

But without the strength
to claw at anyone, her teeth pared down,
domesticated and tangled in nets.

Curation

I have gathered self, gathered pieces
Pasted them together into my likeness
See how I smile in the patchwork gleam?

JD DeHart is a writer and teacher.  His chapbook, The Truth About Snails, is available from Red Dashboard.

Ken Allan Dronsfield- A Poem

Waltz with a Morning Glory

Mysteries inhaling within the dim mind,
magpies crowd upon the rotting dead.
Redwoods reaching in a forest of bark,
balanced upon the edge of new dread.

Bow your head in a solemn reverence
as pious thoughts bleed unto the soul.
Finding your way in a Cave of Hades,
or live life through a crystal fish bowl.

Shaking your head at an ignited spark;
9 volt battery to the tip of your tongue;
will shake a faithless nerve to tears;
touch once again and see the ellipse.

Leaning on a fence near a lighted pole,
a long sip of whisky brings home, "Sorry."
Screaming fantasy, or an alcoholic dream.
Think I'll just Waltz with a Morning Glory.

Bomb Shell

we marvel because
she can blast herself
then reemerge complete.
we marvel because
we are so damaged
even in our completion.
she can be a fire one
moment and back
to solid the next.

"Poem Containing Undesirable Creatures"

Bleached-cobwebs, mounds of them, descend to the floor.
Hordes of schizoid-cockroaches nibble detached
spider legs clinging to the sticky Arthropod-excretions.
Vipers slither through an adjacent window
and slide in and out this tingling orgy.
Mice huddle in the air ducts, cowering.
This is my bedroom.
I choose to feed crawling cacophonies.

Angelica Fuse- Three Poems

Salamander Tree

up they climb
with scaly arms
finding purchase
in the upper boughs
with flicking tongues
and tempting lies.

Electric Buzz

the electronic bee
sits on the petals
attempting to pollinate
but simply not
programmed that way.

Giger

genius
with pen and ink
draws up visions
of nightmare
armored creatures.

Nate Maye- Three Poems

Invention

I pounded
pulsed pushed
finding finally
that a sweet
metal version
of me smiled
back, a bit of
malice in his
eyes.

Reboot

I'm trying
to start again
trying to shut
down trying
to find a command
a series of keys
that works
but sit in a pile
of my own oil.

Lion

he was born
a man
but his mane
told him
there was more,
finding his way
to the jungle
he discovered
his roar.

Nate Maye is a rising poet.  Nate studies literature, and watches too much television.
